Some of you may know that a couple of months ago I went to the library and checked out a CD on Speaking Dutch. Well, finally the day came where the CD was due back at the library, so back it went. However they had other Dutch Language Lesson CDs, so I picked up a different one. This CD was designed to be listened to on the plane to the Netherlands so by the time you land, you know a few things. Sounded good to me. However, in Lesson 8 (oh, I am such a fast learner - all the way to lesson 8 in one day) it was a bit disconcerting to have the CD familiarize me with the following phrases:
"HELP, I've been robbed"
"Help me, I can't find my wife."
"Help me, I can't find my husband."
"Where is the police station?"
"Is it safe to walk there at night?"
Now I think I'll go and research european crime rates.....
